Commemorations held in Poland for historical figures and events

In Mielec, the Economic School commemorated the 84th anniversary of the martyrdom of Blessed Roman Sitko. Sitko, a priest and educator who served as a catechist and rector of the Higher Theological Seminary, died on October 12, 1942, in the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp. School officials and students held a ceremony at a dedicated memorial site containing his relics and an epitaph.

In Radom, participants gathered at the University of Radom to mark the 45th anniversary of the occupation strike at the Higher Engineering School. The event included university authorities, city officials, and representatives from the Institute of National Remembrance. Attendees honored the 1981 protesters and those who supported the movement through the ‘Solidarity’ union, reflecting on the strike's role in the struggle for freedom.
