Commercial Bank of Ceylon conducts nationwide aquatic cleanup
Commercial Bank of Ceylon conducted a nationwide coastal and aquatic cleanup initiative on 19 September to mark International Coastal Cleanup Day. The program involved activities at 16 coastal locations and four inland waterways across 20 sites in Sri Lanka.
Inaugural activities were held at Mount Lavinia, Wellawatte, and Galle Face beaches in Colombo, while regional offices managed conservation efforts at other selected aquatic environments. The initiative was supported by the Marine Environment Protection Authority, the United Nations Global Compact Network Sri Lanka, and various local authorities and community volunteers. The bank stated that this effort aligns with its commitment to water stewardship and its adoption of the Sustainable Development Goal for Clean Water and Sanitation.
