Commissionerate Police bans social media posts from sensitive zones

The Commissionerate Police for Bhubaneswar and Kataka has issued new guidelines prohibiting police personnel from posting photos or videos on social media while on duty at sensitive locations. The directive aims to prevent the disclosure of sensitive information, such as security arrangements and deployment locations, which could create security vulnerabilities.

Under the new rules, personnel stationed at vital installations—including the Odisha Legislative Assembly, the Reserve Bank of India, the Orissa High Court, and the Shri Lingaraj Temple—are barred from using electronic devices to record or photograph their surroundings without prior permission from a competent authority. In-charges of sensitive establishments have been instructed to monitor compliance, with the order stating that violations will result in serious disciplinary action.
