E5 NATO members pledge military aid to Ukraine before winter
The five most powerful military members of NATO in Europe—France, Great Britain, Italy, Poland, and Germany—have announced plans to strengthen Ukraine's military capabilities ahead of the winter season. Following a meeting in Paris, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius confirmed the creation of 'winter packages' focused on air defense systems and essential equipment.
In addition to providing existing technology like Patriot systems, the E5 group is collaborating with Ukraine to develop a new air defense system. The ministers also expressed intent to encourage the United States to support Ukraine through supplies, intelligence, and satellite data.
NATO Deputy Secretary General Radmila Šekerinska emphasized the urgency of the situation, noting that the threat to Ukraine increases with the approaching winter. Defense ministers accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of systematically targeting energy and water infrastructure to terrorize the civilian population during the cold months.
