Common traits of disliked individuals and canine behavioral responses

An analysis of social behaviors that lead to being disliked by humans and how dogs express discomfort toward certain people.

In human social dynamics, five common traits are identified among those who are frequently disliked: frequent complaining or badmouthing, a condescending attitude, habitual lying, excessive negativity, and excessive pride. To improve interpersonal relationships, it is recommended to avoid dishonesty, apologize sincerely when at fault, and practice active listening.

Regarding canine behavior, dogs signal discomfort or dislike through specific actions such as avoiding proximity, barking or growling, averting their gaze, lowering their tails, or freezing in place due to tension. People who are more likely to be avoided by dogs often exhibit behaviors such as making loud noises, attempting sudden physical contact, staring intensely, or chasing the animal. Building rapport with dogs requires prioritizing their sense of security over physical interaction.
