Commoner releases new single ‘Passerby’ ahead of debut album

Phoenix-based emo/alternative band Commoner has released a new single titled ‘Passerby’. The track serves as a precursor to the band’s debut album, ‘Former Self’, which is scheduled for release on November 13, 2026, via Pure Noise Records.

Produced by Zach Tuch, the 10-song album explores themes of maturation, evolving relationships, and the complexities of the past. Vocalist Romin Mattison described ‘Passerby’ as a personal method of addressing someone with whom they will never speak again. The album features previous singles such as ‘Cemetery Dogs’ and ‘Sirens A Block Away’, as well as a collaboration with the band Split Chain on the track ‘Cobalt Blue’.

In addition to the upcoming album, Commoner plans to embark on a United States tour in November, performing alongside ASkySoBlack and 0 Miles Per Hour.
