Communication and AI ethics events scheduled in Brazil

Various academic and religious organizations in Brazil are hosting events in September focused on the intersection of communication, ethics, and artificial intelligence.

The XVIII Academic Week of Communication (Secom), organized by the Rodolfo Walsh Academic Center and the College of Communication Managers of Federal Universities (Cogecom), will take place from September 8 to 11. The event features discussions on the challenges of journalism in the age of AI, workshops on photography and graphic design, and sessions addressing digital inequality and rights violations among rural women in Minas Gerais.

Additionally, the Pastoral Communication (Pascom) of the Diocese of Petrópolis will hold its 16th Communication Workshop (Muticom) on September 20. The theme, “Preserving human voices and faces in the era of artificial intelligence,” aims to reflect on pastoral communication's role in a digital society. The program includes workshops on the practical use of AI in religious communication and insights from researchers in data science and technology.
