Communist Party of Greece criticizes government over cost of living
The Communist Party of Greece (KKE) has issued a critique of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis regarding the rising cost of living and energy poverty in the country. The party argues that these economic hardships are not merely the result of global phenomena, as the government suggests, but are driven by specific domestic policies including taxation and the support of energy corporations.
KKE asserts that relief for citizens cannot be achieved through correspondence with EU officials or by following European Union directives. Instead, the party calls for a confrontation with current economic policies and a challenge to capital profits.
Additionally, the party highlighted the plight of families in Crete affected by recent flooding. KKE demanded immediate state support, 100% compensation, and infrastructure restoration, warning that without such measures, these citizens risk a long-term displacement similar to earthquake victims in Arkalochori who remain in containers years later.
