Communities demand increased security amid urban neglect

In Fluvial Vallarta, Mexico, community members have warned that overgrown vegetation on abandoned lots is creating hiding spots for criminals. Residents report that the lack of maintenance has reduced visibility, making pedestrians—particularly women—vulnerable to harassment and assault. The community is demanding that municipal authorities clean these lots and increase police patrols in the area.

In Spain, neighbors in the El Trampolín and El Guano areas have denounced a state of total abandonment. Residents, represented by the Cariño building community, report that large-scale encampments have led to constant noise, drug and alcohol consumption, and public disturbances. They have also alleged serious incidents, including physical altercations and attempted sexual assaults. Locals are calling for increased police presence, specifically during nighttime hours, to restore order and safety.
