Communities demand urgent repairs to sewage and water infrastructure

Residents in different regions are protesting delays and omissions in essential utility infrastructure projects.

In the La Antena neighborhood of Valle Viejo, Argentina, residents are demanding that ongoing sewage works include home connections. While main trunk lines have been installed, the specific connections required to link individual homes to the network are missing. Approximately 30 families face being excluded from the project despite company records allegedly showing them as connected. Residents have filed formal complaints with the Municipality and the City Council, noting that many must currently pay for frequent septic truck services due to the lack of sewage access.

In El Pocito, residents have been waiting two months for the Commission of Potable Water and Sewerage (CAPA) to begin repairs on approximately 600 meters of water piping and a planned network expansion. Although inspections and geolocations have been completed, no physical work has commenced. The delay has resulted in water waste, creating slippery and hazardous conditions on public roads that have caused injuries to local inhabitants.
