Communities in Argentina and Chile conduct emergency response drills

Communities in Argentina and Chile are conducting emergency drills to improve disaster preparedness and response coordination.

In El Rodeo, Argentina, authorities have organized an emergency simulation scheduled for September 17 and 18. Led by Dr. Luis Castro of Programmatic Area No. 16, the exercise will involve local police, firefighters, health services, and neighbors. The drill will simulate real-world scenarios, including a traffic accident in the town center, a medical emergency during a soccer match, and a domestic crisis, to test real-time coordination between emergency services.

In Chile, the Walterio Meyer Rusca Rural School successfully conducted an earthquake drill as part of its Integral School Safety Plan (PISE). Students, teachers, and staff practiced evacuation protocols and safety procedures to strengthen the school community's reaction capabilities. Acting director Matías Quezada noted that such exercises are essential for maintaining updated safety protocols and ensuring the well-being of students.
