Communities in Burkina Faso and DRC mobilize over infrastructure needs

In Burkina Faso, local communities have mobilized to repair critical infrastructure damaged by heavy rains. In Koungou, youth members rehabilitated a section of the rural track connecting Zonsé to Diarra to restore access to a major livestock market and essential services. Similarly, in Diapaga, a collaborative effort involving security forces, volunteers, and civilians worked to repair a bridge linking the local medical center to the rest of the town to prevent isolation.

In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, youth representatives in the Lubi sector of Kasaï-Central have petitioned national authorities for the construction of a permanent bridge over the Lubi River. The group argues that the lack of a permanent crossing hinders the movement of people, goods, and services between communities, specifically impacting farmers, traders, and students traveling toward Mbuji-Mayi.
