Communities mobilize for homelessness and poverty awareness

Various communities are organizing events to raise awareness for homelessness and poverty. In Sept-Îles-Uashat, the ‘Nuit des sans-abri’ (Night of the Homeless) will feature a solidarity gathering around a campfire to ‘make visible what is invisible.’ Local shelter directors from Transit Sept-Îles and Maison Tsheuatshiun report that facilities are operating at near capacity. A specific concern was raised regarding the lack of dedicated housing for women in the Innu community of Uashat mak Maliotenam.

In Sézanne, France, more than ten associations and institutions are mobilizing for the World Day of Refusal of Poverty. The program includes a film screening of ‘Utopie Zéro Chômeur’ followed by a debate, as well as community presentations focused on human dignity, social justice, and environmental rights. These initiatives aim to address the fundamental needs of housing, food security, and social connection.
