Community aid programs provide food and school supplies in NJ and NYC

Community assistance programs are active across New Jersey and New York to support local residents. In New Jersey, the Community Food Bank of New Jersey, in collaboration with various partner agencies, is facilitating food distributions from August 14 to August 16. Locations include Calvary Chapel of Old Bridge, Jewish Family Services in North Brunswick, and several sites in New Brunswick, such as Salvation Army and Elijah’s Promise. These efforts aim to provide economic relief to counties including Atlantic, Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Middlesex, Passaic, Somerset, and Union.

In New York City, the New York Restoration Project (NYRP), supported by the Citizens Philanthropic Foundation, is conducting a series of backpack and school supply giveaways throughout August. These events, held at various community gardens, aim to prepare children for the upcoming school year. Scheduled distributions include sites in the Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan, and East Harlem. Additionally, La Latino Commission on Aids is hosting a virtual seminar titled ‘Living Well, Aging with Strength: Latino Voices’ to address aging with HIV.
