Community and cultural initiatives launch in Waalwijk and Zwolle

New community and cultural initiatives are launching in the Netherlands. In Waalwijk, the ‘Huis van Actief Burgerschap’ (House of Active Citizenship) is opening to serve as a networking hub for residents, entrepreneurs, and local government. Rather than a fixed office, it functions as a mobile network that meets on the first Friday of every month at different locations to address social issues such as loneliness, sustainability, and local livability.

In Zwolle, the ‘Fotofestival Zwolle 2026’ is scheduled to take place from September 11 to October 7, 2026, at the Rode Hal in the Spoorzone. Centered on the themes ‘Traveling in Time’ and ‘Traces in Time,’ the festival will feature photography, film, and multimedia exhibitions exploring the history and future of Zwolle as a railway city. The event includes student exhibitions, a free cultural route through the city center, and various presentations on urban development.
