Community art and textile installations promote social connection in Italy

Various cultural and community initiatives in Italy are utilizing textile arts and storytelling to foster social connection.

At the Fondazione Liebenau – Residenza Oasi in Besana, a new art installation titled ‘Le trame della vita’ (The Weaves of Life) has been inaugurated. Developed through the Progetto Parenti creative workshop, the installation features small works made from wooden frames, wool, crochet, and embroidery. The project involves residents, family members, volunteers, and educators, aiming to promote active aging and provide a collaborative space for families to connect through shared manual activities.

In Calendano, the association ‘I Libri di Medea’ hosted the ‘Abitare’ event at Borghetto Pedale. The evening combined theater, music, and readings from the novel ‘Una vita nel cerchio’ by Angela Strippoli. The event featured textile installations by the association Chicche Crochet aps, using threads and knots to symbolize community and identity. The initiative sought to connect generations and participants through the metaphor of weaving personal histories into a shared landscape.
