Community art workshops launch in Gavirate and Sedilo

Various community-driven art workshops are taking place in Italy to foster local identity and creativity.

In Gavirate, the “Ticino. Le voci del fiume” exhibition at the Chiostro di Voltorre will host a participatory workshop on September 20. Led by sculptor and ceramist Angelo Zilio, also known as Gilö, participants will model clay fragments to represent personal memories of the river. These pieces will be assembled into a collective installation designed to evolve over time through exposure to natural elements.

In Sedilo, preparations for the 2026 “Zenias de Atonzu” event have begun with a series of open workshops. Held at the former elementary school, these sessions invite citizens to transform recycled fabrics into a symbolic art installation. Participants will work with specific colors—yellow, orange, coral red, fuchsia, and burgundy—to decorate and assemble letters for the display. Mayor Salvatore Pes noted that the initiative aims to strengthen community belonging through shared creative gestures.
