Community awareness marches held for breast cancer detection

Community awareness events for breast cancer took place in Marbella and Philipsburg to promote early detection and support those affected by the disease.

In Marbella, the 14th edition of the ‘Marea Rosa’ march was organized by the Asociación Española contra el Cáncer (AECC). Approximately 1,600 participants walked a four-kilometer route along the seafront despite cloudy skies and the threat of storms. The event, which moved from its usual November slot to October, raised funds through a 12-euro registration fee to support the AECC’s local assistance programs.

In Philipsburg, St. Maarten, the annual ‘Pink Parade’ saw over 200 participants, including survivors, caregivers, and healthcare professionals. Organized by the Positivey and Elektralyets foundations, the parade served as a highlight of a month-long campaign focused on education and early detection. Various local organizations and institutions joined the march to demonstrate community solidarity.
