Community charity runs raise funds for medical research and social causes
Various community-led charity runs and marathons are being organized across Spain, Argentina, Chile, Venezuela, and Costa Rica to support medical research and social welfare.
In Spain, the RunCáncer Valencia 2026 will take place in Torrent on September 26, featuring a 5km race and a 4km walk to fund oncological research through the Asociación Española contra el Cáncer. Additionally, the Cañicas-Imaginalia neighborhood is hosting a race to benefit the Acepain Foundation, which researches breast and gynecological cancers.
In Argentina, the Onco Infantojuvenil Foundation is presenting its 4th Solidarity Marathon in Goya, while in Salta, the 36th HIRPACE Marathon was held to support children with cerebral palsy despite the institution facing funding challenges. In Chile, a non-competitive marathon in San Antonio raised non-perishable food for local social institutions.
In Venezuela, a 10k race in Coro was held to support residents of La Guaira affected by recent earthquakes. In Costa Rica, the ‘Con Motor y Corazón’ event raised $86,513 to assist in the reconstruction of La Posada del Alivio, a shelter for families of children receiving treatment at the National Children's Hospital.
