Community cleaning initiatives launched in Ostrołęka and Poznań
Various community-led environmental and social initiatives are taking place across Poland. In Ostrołęka, residents experiencing homelessness are participating in the “Działanie-Sprzątanie” (Action-Cleaning) project. Organized by the Municipal Family Support Center's night shelter, the initiative involves cleaning public spaces to improve the city's environment while helping participants regain a sense of agency and influence over their lives.
In Poznań, a large-scale cleaning campaign is underway with a specific focus on water protection under the slogan “SOS for water – let it be free of trash!”. The initiative encourages neighborhood groups, families, and companies to clean up parks, residential areas, and water bodies such as rivers and lakes to prevent waste from reaching oceans. Participants can register through September 15, with the city providing essential supplies like gloves and bags. The campaign is part of the broader “Clean Up the World” movement coordinated by the Our Earth Foundation.
