Community cultural events announced for Guimarães and Coimbra

Guimarães will host the “Maré de Sizígia” project on September 29. The initiative aims to center people with disabilities in community life and artistic creation through an inclusive parade. Approximately 600 participants will march through the streets, featuring a large school of fish constructed from recycled plastic bottles and other reusable materials. The project is promoted by CERCIGUI with support from the Municipality of Guimarães and involves 11 different institutions.

In Coimbra, the first edition of the “Jogos Sem Fronteiras Coimbra 2026” is scheduled for September 26 at Parque Verde do Mondego. The event will bring together representatives from the municipality's 18 parishes to recreate a popular television format. The competition will feature aquatic activities on the Mondego River in the afternoon, including challenges involving seagull-shaped boats, and land-based obstacle courses in the evening. The games will also incorporate local historical themes, such as the story of Pedro and Inês.
