Community Development Meetings in Portugal Focus on Rural and Urban Initiatives

On 23 June, the Cultural Forum in Alcochete hosted an ADREPES meeting that brought together the Local Action Group for Rural and Coastal areas to examine community‑based local development (DLBC) proposals. Councilor Ana Maduro highlighted the importance of ADREPES support for balanced, sustainable growth in the municipality.

Three days later, the Centre for Research in Adult Education and Community Intervention (CEAD) at the University of Algarve held its first thematic meeting of the Collaborative Network. Under the theme “Emerging challenges in community intervention: what collaborative responses do we need?”, researchers and civil‑society representatives discussed the network’s 2026‑2029 activity plan. The event was funded by the national science foundation (FCT).
