Community Dinners Strengthen Social Ties in Jesi and Olmo di Piano, Italy

On Friday, 7 August, the Olmo di Piano association hosted a neighborhood evening in the historic centre of its town. Residents and seniors gathered for a card tournament, a shared spaghetti dinner and music under the stars, aiming to boost social interaction and local identity.

In Jesi, the annual Via Murat dinner attracted about 170 participants, including current and former residents, local officials and clergy. Organized by a committee led by Giorgio Pittori, the event featured a menu prepared by resident chef Cristian Maretu, a blessing from parish priest Don Giuliano Fiorentini and promises of future gatherings. Both initiatives highlight a growing tradition of communal meals that reinforce neighbourhood bonds and cultural heritage.
