Community dog shows raise funds for animal welfare

Various community dog shows and fairs are being held to support animal welfare and local charities.

In Helensburgh, the annual Companion Dog Show took place in Colquhoun Square despite heavy rain. The event raised £200 for Hogwatch Dumbarton Hedgehog Rescue, bringing the total raised by the show for the charity to nearly £600 this August. A whippet named Smudge was awarded Best in Show. The next event is scheduled for October 17 at Loch Lomond Shores.

In Spain, the Trex Andalucia Sanctuary near Turre will host its annual Fun Dog Show and Autumn Fair on September 29. The event aims to raise funds for the sanctuary’s animal rescue work through dog show classes, local vendor stalls, a raffle, and a tombola. All proceeds from stall pitches and event activities will support animal care at the sanctuary.
