Community environmental restoration efforts continue in Argentina and Chile

Community-led environmental restoration efforts are being carried out in different regions. In Villa Nueva, Argentina, residents are organizing community days for cleaning, reforestation, and the recovery of natural spaces. Following previous river cleaning efforts by the Guardianes del Ctalamochita, the next phase focuses on recovering a sector of Provincial Route No. 2.

In Chile, a community reforestation day took place at the Fundación Santuario Curahuén in the Altos de Ninhue Priority Site. Approximately 120 native specimens, including huingán, quillay, and peumo, were planted as part of the GEF Landscape Restoration project. The initiative included the control of exotic species, such as pine, to support the recovery of the sclerophyllous forest and strengthen native forest nuclei.
