Community events and diversity festivals announced in the Netherlands

Local community initiatives are taking place in the Netherlands. In Ouderkerk aan de Amstel, churches organize weekly morning prayer sessions every Wednesday morning. Martin Molenaar of the Elimkerk describes these sessions as moments of rest, reflection, and togetherness, featuring Bible readings and singing. He expressed a desire to attract more residents, particularly younger people and those in their forties, to find peace amidst global unrest.

In Amersfoort, the sixth annual Diversity Festival, themed ‘Samen Anders’ (Together Different), is scheduled to take place from October 7 to October 11, 2026. Organized by the Municipality of Amersfoort and curated by Bibliotheek Eemland, the festival aims to celebrate the differences and connections among the city's 165,000 residents. The program includes theater, music, panel discussions on inclusivity in sports, and community activities such as a city walk and reading sessions for all ages.
