Argentina: Regional initiatives focus on children's rights and social participation
Various regional programs in Argentina are implementing initiatives to promote the rights and active participation of children and adolescents. In Santiago del Estero, a collective mural was inaugurated at the Mama Antula Adolescent Women's Protection Home. This project resulted from a training program led by the National Defender for the Rights of Children, Girls, and Adolescents, allowing residents to participate in designing and painting their living space.
In La Matanza, the 14th edition of the Plaza por los Derechos de la Niñez was held, bringing together families and youth for activities centered on identity, memory, and resistance. The event included debates on local care strategies and the challenges posed by the current socio-economic crisis.
In Olavarría, municipal authorities presented an annual management report to UNICEF regarding the “Municipio Unido por la Niñez y la Adolescencia” (MUNA) program. The report detailed progress in three key areas: early childhood and healthy environments, violence-free environments, and the educational inclusion of adolescents outside of school.
Additionally, the San Isidro Bar Association hosted the 2026 Painting Contest for Young Lawyers, an annual event where children aged 3 to 15 create art and donate non-perishable food items to local churches.
