Community events in Boulder Creek and Steamboat Springs highlight local traditions

In Boulder Creek, California, Century 21 Masters is hosting its annual Pumpkin Decorating Contest. The tradition, which began in 2018, provides free pumpkins to community members to carve or decorate. The contest features separate categories for adults and children, with cash prizes awarded for first, second, and third-place winners.

In Steamboat Springs, Colorado, city officials are focusing on public safety planning for large-scale community gatherings. Major annual events include the Halloween Stroll, Winter Carnival, Free Summer Music Concerts, and July 4th parades. To manage the risks associated with large crowds, city staff coordinate across police, fire, transit, and parks departments, utilizing specialized training, traffic-control plans, and protective measures such as anti-vehicle barricades.
