Community events scheduled in Kitakyushu and Wakayama

Various community-focused events are scheduled to take place in Japan, focusing on regional engagement and disaster preparedness.

In Kitakyushu, the ‘Uta Fes! Yahata Higashi 2026’ event is set for October 31, 2026, at Rainbow Hiroba. Organized by a local executive committee, the festival aims to foster intergenerational connection through music. The program includes a youth karaoke contest, a regional song battle between community development councils, and a performance contest for local businesses.

In Wakayama, the Junior Chamber International Japan Kinki District Council will host the ‘Bosai Studios JC’ (BSJ) disaster prevention booth at Wakayama Castle on September 13, 2026. The initiative features an interactive ‘darkness maze’ designed to simulate power outages, allowing families to practice emergency responses. Other activities include VR disaster simulations, fire extinguisher training for children, and displays of local fire vehicles.
