Community facilities in Italy receive new uses for sports and education

In Carpi, the Spartan Club, led by instructor Salvatore Arpaia, has secured a new location at the Floriano Gallesi Municipal Gym. The project focuses on using traditional Kung Fu and martial arts as tools for prevention, emotional management, and self-awareness. Aimed at both youth and adults, the initiative seeks to help participants recognize danger and manage conflict through discipline and self-control. Programs for children start as young as three years old, combining motor skills with socialization.

In Erice, the Porta Spada gym has been reopened for community and educational use after approximately forty years of inactivity. Following a renovation project costing over 1.7 million euros funded by PNRR resources, the facility was handed over to the Ignazio and Vincenzo Florio Higher Education Institute. The gym will serve approximately 150 students from the Palazzo Sales campus for physical education classes. The agreement between the Municipality of Erice and the Free Municipal Consortium of Trapani also allows for the facility to be used by local sports organizations outside of school hours.
