Community festivals and new sculpture park launch in Illinois

Community-focused cultural events are taking place in the Chicago area. The Evanston Folk Festival returns to Dawes Park on September 12 and 13. Produced by SPACE Presents, the third annual festival features music, discussions, and community activities on the lakefront.

In Englewood, the Englewood Arts Collective has launched a new sculpture park on 63rd Street. The installation includes murals and drum sculptures on a formerly vacant lot. Director Janell Nelson stated that the project aims to support well-being and eventually serve as an economic driver for local artists. The park will host activities this weekend in conjunction with the Englewood Music Festival.
