Community fundraiser for Giuseppe Volpicella supports glioma research

The family of Giuseppe Volpicella, a young man from Colli del Tronto who passed away from an aggressive brain tumor, has announced the distribution of 12,000 euros raised through a community memorial fundraiser.

Of the total funds, 1,000 euros have been donated to the IOM in Ascoli Piceno. The remaining 11,000 euros will support Progetto Gaia, a research initiative coordinated by Professor Antonio Scilimati at the University of Bari. The project aims to fund advanced scientific studies on diffuse midline glioma of the brainstem, a particularly aggressive form of tumor for which there is currently no cure.

The research effort involves a collaborative network including Dr. Paola Coccia from the Salesi hospital in Ancona and Professor Ruggiero from Gemelli in Rome. The Volpicella family stated their intention to continue supporting research to provide hope for other children and adolescents facing the same condition.
