Community fundraising efforts support hospital services in UK and Australia
Community fundraising efforts are underway to support healthcare services in both the United Kingdom and Australia.
In Enniskillen, the Save Our Acute Services (SOAS) campaign raised £17,578 through a raffle and an additional £635 during a pub quiz. The funds support the group's ongoing campaign to restore Emergency General Surgery (EGS) services at the South West Acute Hospital. Organizers noted that the community support serves as a demonstration of public determination to see surgical services returned to the facility.
In Perth, Australia, The Charlies Foundation for Research has launched a 24-hour ‘Giving Day’ blitz with a target of $100,000. The funds are intended to support seven practical projects at Sir Charles Gairdner and Osborne Park hospitals. Targeted areas for improvement include cancer research, transplant research, emergency and intensive care, and specialized equipment, such as lymphscanners to help clinicians identify and treat lymphedema in breast cancer survivors.
