Community funds launched in Somerset and Neath Port Talbot

New funding initiatives have been announced to support community projects in Somerset and Neath Port Talbot.

In Somerset, the Council has launched the Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS) Community Seed Fund. Supported by government funding, the initiative offers grants of up to £10,000 to schools, community groups, charities, and farmers. The fund aims to restore habitats, support priority species, and improve wildlife connectivity in alignment with the county-wide nature recovery framework.

In Neath Port Talbot, the TSUK Mental Health & Well-being Community Fund has been established to provide £1.2 million in support following changes at Tata Steel. The fund offers grants ranging from £10,000 to £50,000 to help individuals and families navigate the social and emotional challenges of industrial transition. Priorities include rebuilding social connections, improving mental health, and addressing financial pressures through community-led projects.
