Community Halloween and Xantolo celebrations held across US regions

Various communities are hosting seasonal celebrations, including the Xantolo festival in Silver City, New Mexico. Organized by Teatro del Cobre, the Xantolo event, titled “Xantolo: Vida, Muerte, y Tradición,” honors pre-Hispanic traditions from the Huasteca region of Mexico. The celebration features a procession on Pope Street, including approximately 30 ofrendas, which are altars used to commemorate deceased loved ones with favorite foods and colors.

Other regional activities include various Halloween events such as “Hall-O-Nita” in Manzanita, where merchants distribute treats, and “Trails and Treats” in Wheeler, which features a presentation on trail construction and a walk to Bott’s Marsh. Additional festivities include trunk-or-treat events in Rockaway and Bay City, a fall walk at Kilchis Point Reserve, and a “Trick or Treat the Dory Fleet” event at the Kiawanda Community Center.
