Health and social services initiatives across Latin America
Various regional health and social welfare initiatives are being implemented across Latin America. In Argentina, health teams and the National University of La Pampa held a health fair in General Pico to showcase local sanitary services. In Entre Ríos, the Ministry of Health successfully negotiated the continuity of the otorhinolaryngology team at San Roque Hospital following previous resignations. Additionally, the municipality of Río Grande completed a virtual suicide prevention and life promotion course that reached over 4,000 participants internationally.
In Chile, authorities in Coquimbo illuminated city letters in pink to promote breast cancer awareness, while in Arica and Parinacota, a regional committee coordinated healthcare for pregnant women and nursing children within the prison system. In Copiapó, the municipality held ceremonies to recognize evangelical and Protestant communities for their social support roles.
Other regional activities include a mental health walk in Luján, Argentina, and a public health and leadership congress in Itapúa, Paraguay. In the Dominican Republic, Promese/Cal addressed reports of medicine shortages by announcing upcoming shipments of acetaminophen and omeprazole. In Colombia, the Operación Sonrisa Foundation provided surgical care to 95 patients with cleft lip or palate in Córdoba.
