Community health screenings identify numerous cases of hypertension and diabetes

Recent community-based health outreach programs in Uganda and Ghana have identified significant numbers of previously undiagnosed medical conditions.

In Kamwokya, Uganda, a health camp organized by dfcu Bank and Rotary provided medical consultations, screenings, and treatments to approximately 1,085 residents. The initiative identified several previously undiagnosed cases of hypertension and diabetes. The outreach also provided services including dental and eye care, HIV testing, mental health support, and cervical cancer screening. Additionally, a blood donation drive conducted in partnership with Mengo Hospital collected 71 units of blood.

In the Ashanti Region of Ghana, Sekyere Community Bank PLC conducted a week-long screening exercise in partnership with Peace Specialty Hospital. The program recorded over 500 cases of hypertension and more than 400 cases of impacted earwax among 875 participants. The outreach, which spanned several bank branches, offered blood sugar testing, ENT examinations, and free medications to community members and staff.
