Community healthcare initiatives expand in Italy
Various regions in Italy are implementing proximity-based healthcare models to support vulnerable and marginalized populations. In Bologna, a network of solidarity and health is emerging to reach individuals excluded from traditional care pathways. This model integrates street nurses, such as those from Associazione Infermieri Strada ODV, with solidarity dental laboratories and local associations to provide essential services to migrants and those facing economic hardship.
In Montalto Uffugo, discussions regarding the 'Case della Comunità' (Community Houses) model highlight a shift toward territorial healthcare reform. Following the guidelines of DM 77/2022 and investments from the PNRR Mission 6 Health, the focus is moving toward a global approach to patient care. This strategy emphasizes the home as a primary place of care and seeks to integrate medical services with social support to better protect fragile subjects.
