Community honors Diego Vega Roca and celebrates Los Sabaneteros

In Puerto de la Cruz, Spain, Diego Vega Roca was honored for his lifelong dedication to motorsports. The ceremony, held at the City Hall, recognized his passion for motoring and his continued vitality at age 89. The event brought together family, friends, and motorcycle enthusiasts from across Tenerife. Notable figures, including former MotoGP rider Carlos Checa and racing pilots Fernando Capdevila and Toñi Ponce, provided video tributes. Vega was also known for his long-standing friendship and professional partnership with the late rally champion Chicho Reyes.

In Santiago Rodríguez, Dominican Republic, the community held the first “Encuentro de Los Sabaneteros” at the Coopsano Club. Originally organized as a WhatsApp group by Freddy Almonte to connect generations from the “Cradle of Restoration,” the digital initiative transitioned into a large-scale in-person gathering. The event focused on fostering brotherhood and identity among families and friends through shared meals and community activities.
