Community initiatives distribute school supplies in Antigua and Barbuda
Various community and corporate initiatives in Antigua and Barbuda are providing essential school supplies to students ahead of the new academic year.
In Antigua, the Ministry of Social and Urban Transformation, through the Social Protection Board, distributed approximately 1,025 school bags, shoes, and books to students at the Rising Sun Grounds. Social Protection Board Operations Manager Mary Baltimore noted that the initiative aimed to help families manage costs and boost student confidence.
In Barbados, Packaging Centre Ltd held a handover ceremony to distribute backpacks, books, pens, and snacks to children in need. Warehouse manager Simon Cho stated that while the company has run this program since 2022, they are now highlighting it publicly to encourage greater collaboration between the private sector and the government to support families.
