Community initiatives in Dordrecht and Gouda seek volunteers and youth recognition

Community initiatives in the Netherlands are seeking to recognize and expand local volunteer efforts. In Dordrecht, the Staartlicht initiative is recruiting volunteers to support children, youth, and residents. Available roles include team members for a girls' club for ages 11 to 15, communication and PR support, and practical assistance for neighborhood activities such as community barbecues and weekly meetups.

In Gouda, the municipality has launched a call for nominations for the ‘Goudse Ster’, an official youth award. The award honors residents up to age 23 who demonstrate selfless commitment to their community, such as coaching sports teams, organizing neighborhood activities, or providing caregiver support. An independent jury will select recipients, with the awards ceremony scheduled for November 20, coinciding with the International Day of the Rights of the Child.
