Various community initiatives in Indonesia are focusing on waste management to promote environmental cleanliness and economic opportunities through circular economy principles.

In Boyolali, Universitas Diponegoro (Undip) students introduced waste bank concepts and Japanese cleanliness habits, such as 'gomi bunbetsu' (sorting waste), to residents of Dusun Repaking. The program aims to encourage household waste sorting into organic, inorganic, and hazardous categories.

In Pemalang, Undip students reactivated the Wanarejan Selatan waste bank. This initiative connects waste management to community health and local economy, with proceeds from plastic bottle sales supporting local Posyandu (integrated healthcare center) funds.

In Karawang, a training program for housewives organized by the PERURI Waste Awareness Group (KSSP) focuses on transforming household waste into value-added recycled products. This effort aims to empower women economically by teaching them to view waste as a creative resource rather than mere refuse.
