Community initiatives in Japan focus on food education and disaster recovery

Hanshin Umeda Main Store is hosting a practical food education program in collaboration with the confectionery brand Yanagawa. On October 17, children will participate in a hands-on retail experience at the department store’s ‘Onyatsu no Hikidashi’ section. Following a previous experience harvesting chestnuts in Tanba City, participants will attempt to promote and sell chestnut dorayaki using their own handmade signage and marketing techniques.

Separately, Sunny Nest is holding its ‘Tsunagaru Hako’ charity event from October 1 to October 17. The initiative focuses on supporting recovery from the Noto Peninsula earthquake by showcasing products sourced directly from local artisans in the affected Okunoto region. The event includes charity sales and various community activities to support disaster relief funds.
