Community initiatives in Ridderkerk and Veendam

In Ridderkerk, Facet Ridderkerk has announced a special outing for seniors using its ‘Boodschappenbus’ (Grocery Bus) service. On Friday, October 30, the service will organize an extra trip to the Bloemenjungle, specifically for residents aged 65 and older. The initiative aims to assist seniors who wish to continue shopping independently but face mobility challenges, providing transportation and volunteer assistance. The outing includes opportunities for social interaction and refreshments for a fee of €2 per person.

In Veendam, a guided bus tour was organized to help new residents explore the municipality. The tour visited various notable locations, followed by a meeting at the Henk Nienhuis Stadium. During the event, Alderman Henk Jan Schmaal delivered a presentation regarding the municipality, and local council members met with the newcomers to welcome them to the community.
