Community initiatives promote swimming skills in Germany and Austria
Community initiatives in Germany and Austria are focusing on improving swimming skills and water safety for children.
In Reyershausen, Germany, the tenth annual charity swim at the Ratsburgbad pool raised over 3,000 euros. The event involved 84 participants who swam more than 1,600 laps of the 50-meter pool. The funds collected are designated to finance free swimming courses for children and adolescents during the autumn holidays.
In St. Pölten, Austria, a new swimming offensive will launch in September. The city, in partnership with ESV St. Pölten, the Chamber of Labour Lower Austria (AK NÖ), and NV Versicherung, will provide weekly free swimming lessons for 24 primary school classes. The city is covering all costs, including transportation and infrastructure, to promote early swimming competence and water safety.
