Community leaders honored in memorial services in Italy
Memorial services and funerals were held in Italy to honor two prominent community figures.
In Cosenza, a mass was held at the Sant’Agostino Parish in Morelli di Casali del Manco to remember Michelino Braiotta. Braiotta was a medical director for the Asp of Cosenza, a long-time worker for the 118 emergency service, and a political figure involved with the Democratic Party. He was noted for his critical stance regarding healthcare corruption and his use of irony and sarcasm in both medicine and politics.
In Maliseti, funeral services for Monsignor Santino Brunetti took place at the Church of San Giovanni Battista. Brunetti served as the parish priest of Maliseti for 50 years. During his tenure, he held leadership roles in Migrantes for 17 years and Caritas for 10 years. The ceremony was attended by local officials and presided over by Bishop Giovanni Nerbini, who praised Brunetti’s dedication to the community and his service to the vulnerable.
