Community libraries expand cultural and educational initiatives

Community libraries in Potrero de los Funes and Avilés are expanding their cultural and educational offerings.

The Biblioteca Popular de Potrero de los Funes, founded in 1995 and housing over 10,000 books, is inviting new members to join its reading clubs and educational programs. Under the presidency of Graciela Brites, the institution has recently secured funding through institutional strengthening programs to acquire new equipment, such as printers, to support its mission of community learning.

In Avilés, the Biblioteca de La Luz has inaugurated ‘Bibliokepos,’ a new cultural and environmental refuge. This project integrates books and furniture with indoor plants to create a shared space for knowledge and experience. The initiative is supported by the Ministry of Culture and the Avilés City Council, through the Municipal Culture Foundation, in collaboration with the Climate Biennial and the Higher School of Art.
