Community marathon events announced in Ichikawa and Kurume

Two regional marathon events in Japan have announced their upcoming schedules.

The 77th Ichikawa Citizen New Year's Marathon is scheduled for January 1, 2027, at the Ichikawa City Sports Center and surrounding areas. The event features five categories: 10km, 5km, 2km, a 2km family race, and a 4km walk. Registration is open to residents, workers, and students of Ichikawa City, with a capacity of 900 participants on a first-come, first-served basis. A pre-event running seminar led by professional coach Tsuyoshi Aoyama will be held on December 5, 2026.

The Chikugo River Marathon 2026 will take place on November 1, 2026, at the Kurume Hyakunen Park riverbed in Fukuoka Prefecture. Organized by NPO Aiai, the event expects approximately 3,600 runners across five categories, including a half-marathon and a 1.5km race specifically for people with disabilities. Drugstore Mori is sponsoring the event and will host a health promotion booth featuring registered dietitians.
