Community Mental Health Programs Launched in Mexico

The FARO (Fortalecimiento, Atención, Resiliencia y Orientación) program was presented by Lic. Héctor Mauricio Islas Luna at the Club de Leones. The initiative aims to promote emotional well‑being, prevention, and resilience for children, adolescents and adults through orientation, support and community‑building activities.

In Veracruz, Lucila Ale de Ficachi, president of the Damas Voluntarias and Social Programs of the Cruz Roja, leads a mental‑health program offering weekly workshops and individual or group therapy. Psychologists, university professors and volunteers provide sessions on emotional management, grief, workplace changes and other life challenges, attracting around 40 participants per workshop.

Both programs seek to raise awareness of mental health, reduce stigma and provide tools for individuals to cope with emotional difficulties, fostering healthier and more resilient communities.
