Community of Madrid allocates millions to senior care and digital transport ticketing

The Community of Madrid will spend €7 million on social‑care services for the Las Cañadas intermunicipal area, which includes the towns of El Boalo, Manzanares el Real, Soto del Real and Miraflores de la Sierra. The funding will finance 113 public residential places for dependent seniors in Soto and Miraflores and provide home‑help and advanced tele‑assistance to around 530 users.

Separately, the regional government approved a €2.7 million technical‑assistance contract to supervise the rollout of an Account‑Based Ticketing system that will enable mobile‑phone, card and smartwatch payments across the Metro, bus and Cercanías networks. Six international technology groups – including Cubic, Hitachi Rail, Indra, Masabi, Kentkart and Inetum – are shortlisted to design the digital‑ticketing platform, with the project expected to modernise fare collection and align Madrid with other major global cities.
